How to Set UGC Monetization Policies Per Track and Platform

Modified on Tue, 27 Jan at 3:48 PM

UGC Monetization Controls allow you to define how your music should be handled across TikTok, YouTube Content ID, and Facebook Rights Manager, either at the release level or per track.

These settings are applied during distribution and provide a clear, post-distribution view of what was delivered to each platform.

Release-Level vs Track-Level Policies

By default, monetization policies are applied at the release level.

To enable track-level control:

  1. Go to Monetization Policy
  2. Enable Apply different policy for each track

When enabled, the interface switches to a track-by-track table where policies can be selected individually.

Important

  • Track-level monetization is enabled per release, not per platform
  • When enabled, all supported UGC platforms switch to track-level mode
  • You cannot mix release-level and track-level policies within the same release

Understanding Monetization Policies

Each UGC platform supports different monetization options. These options determine what happens when your music is found in someone else’s video.

  • Claim Ad Earnings

Scan for videos or stories using your music and monetize them.

  • Monitor

Scan for videos or stories using your music without monetizing. Analytics only.

  • Block

Scan for videos or stories using your music and block them.

TikTok

  • Monetize

Scan for videos using your music and monetize them.

  • Block Access

Scan for videos using your music and block them.

  • No TikTok Scanning

Do not scan TikTok videos containing your music.

YouTube Content ID

  • Monetize in all countries

Scan for videos using your music and monetize them.

  • Track in all countries

Scan for videos using your music without monetizing it. Analytics only.

UGC Eligibility Requirements (Important)

⚠️ Important:

All recordings distributed to UGC platforms must:

  • Contain only music
  • Be owned or licensed exclusively by you

These requirements apply regardless of the monetization policy selected.

After Distribution: Reviewing Applied Policies

Once a release has been distributed, a Monetization section appears in the release navigation.

  • Download Stores shows retail pricing and availability
  • UGC Platforms shows a table of the exact monetization policies applied per track and platform

Catalog → Release → Monetization → UGC Platforms (post-distribution view).

This view is intended for review and verification, so you can clearly see what was delivered.

FAQ

Can I apply track-level monetization to only one UGC platform?

No. Track-level monetization is enabled per release. When enabled, all supported UGC platforms switch to track-level mode.

Why don’t I see the Monetization section for some releases?

The Monetization section only appears after a release has been distributed. Before distribution, monetization is configured during the distribution flow.

What happens to older releases created before this feature existed?

Older releases keep their original release-level monetization policies. Track-level controls can be enabled for future updates.

What happens to releases created before track-level monetization was available?

Nothing changes for those releases. They keep their original release-level monetization policies.

If you edit or re-distribute a release, you can choose to enable track-level monetization at that point and re-deliver the release with the updated policies.
