Distribution and delivery of videos to DSPs is coming in Q1 2026. In the meantime, Revelator does support the creation of videos on VEVO and YouTube, as well as royalty reporting for videos.
- To submit videos for upload to VEVO please read our guide here.
- To create a Music Video asset on YouTube in order to use that asset to generate claims (vs. just using the Sound Recording asset you distributed through Revelator), please use one of these templates:
- This template if your video doesn't yet exist on YouTube
- This template if your video already exists on YouTube
Warning Once you have created a VEVO video or a YouTube Music Video asset it is critical that you also create it in your catalog. If you do not do so, the royalties for those videos will lack a corresponding asset to be matched to, and their royalties will therefore remain unallocated and unpaid.
How to create a video in your catalog
Please follow these steps to create a video in your catalog:
- Go to Assets → Videos (if you do not have a Videos section, please email Support to request it be enabled for your account).
- Click Create new.
Note Revelator videos are video albums, meaning that they can contain multiple videos (called "video tracks"). Video albums are similar to audio releases in that they can have more than 1 track. A basic video is simply a 1 track video.
- Add your video track metadata. You have 2 options for this:
- Select an existing audio track to save time and fill out most of the metadata you need for your video.
- Create a new video track: this requires you to enter all metadata from scratch. The only required fields are:
- The video title
- An artist (at least one)
- A video ISRC (vISRC)
- Fill out the release metadata. The only required fields are:
- Metadata language
- The video title. Note that for basic videos (video albums of only 1 video), the title of the video track must match the title of the video album.
- An artist (at least one)
- intended UPC. Since these are meant to be assets used for reporting, you must provide the UPC of your distributed video. If you have not yet distributed your video, please email support to request a UPC for it (we can also provide multiple UPCs in advance if you need to create multiple videos).
- AnA ISRC (same guidelines as for the video ISRC in the track section above).
Warning If you selected an existing audio track in step 3, it is critical that you replace its ISRC with the video ISRC (vISRC) — the current ISRC is an audio ISRC. If you do not replace the existing audio ISRC with the vISRC, your royalties will remain unallocated. If you do not have a vISRC, please email Support so that we can provide you with one. Do not enter an audio ISRC in the vISRC field. Since these are intended for reporting, you must provide the vISRC of your distributed video. If you have not yet distributed your video, please email support to request an ISRC for your video (we can also provide you with multiple ISRCs ahead of time if you need to create multiple videos).
