As a Revelator client, you can pitch your priority releases to various DSPs. Submission is done through a designated form designed to capture all the release and artist information relevant to the DSPs we distribute to. You can find the link to the form at the bottom of this article.

Before you start, make sure to review the guidelines, criteria, and tips outlined in this article to optimize your submission.

INITIAL CHECKLIST:

  1. The form is exclusively for Revelator direct client teams and must not be shared externally.
  2. Only submit releases distributed under Revelator deals. Any other submissions will be ignored.
  3. We can review up to 1 submission per client per week. Additional submissions will be ignored.

WHAT DSPs DOES THIS FORM COVER?

This form covers all DSPs distributed by Revelator, from major platforms like Spotify, Amazon & Deezer to more regional services like FLO and Anghami, as well as social platforms like Snap & TikTok. The form’s questions are regularly updated to align with evolving DSP preferences and policies. Our curation team carefully reviews each submission and to ensure it matches relevant DSP requirements. Curations are based on:

  • Genre, language, and territory
  • Artist status and presence, including fan engagement and activity
  • Content quality, compelling artist story and its fit with editorial strategies

CAN I PITCH TO SPECIFIC DSPs?

Yes, you can specify the DSPs most important to you in the form. Ensure you include details about artist activity and marketing plans for the desired DSP in the designated fields. For example, if your artist has a special shorts campaign planned for YouTube, a strong playlisting history on Deezer, or a large following on Audiomack, be sure to highlight these specifics. Editorial teams value artists actively engaging with their platform, so providing this information can increase your chances of support.

WHAT CRITERIA SHOULD I USE TO PRIORITIZE MY RELEASES?

Focus on releases from your high-performing artists: Artists with a proven track record, significant following, and strong performance metrics offer the best potential for impactful DSP support. A strong marketing plan is still essential to showcase the release's potential and draw attention.

Submit releases from your high-priority emerging artists: If you're betting on an emerging artist that still lacks substantial stats but has a stand-out release, you can definitely submit it for DSP support. In such cases, a strong marketing plan becomes even more critical. Highlight trending songs, compelling stories, or significant shows scheduled during campaign dates to enhance the submission and capture DSP attention.

Leverage already-trending songs: Releases that are already trending, especially on UGC and social media platforms, often attract DSP interest. Showcasing specific metrics, such as streaming spikes and production stats (creations), can enhance the appeal of your submission.

PRO TIPS FOR CREATING A SUCCESSFUL PITCH:

  1. The first phrase of your pitch should describe the mood your song sets, the emotions it creates, and the scenarios it complements. This helps editors quickly understand where your song fits and the value it brings to listeners or playlists, even before hearing it. Next, include one standout achievement of the artist for added context, even for emerging artists. This could be anything from regional recognition, a successful tour, media coverage, or fan quotes, to awards, critical acclaim, or Billboard charting.

Example 1 (Performing):

Call My Name’ is a gentle acoustic folk tune that captures the comforting charm of England's countryside, perfect for cozy winter evenings, quiet moments of reflection, or escaping into nature. Following the RIAA Platinum certification of her debut album ‘Black Flower’, UK artist Katy Longmore unveils a new single from her highly anticipated second album."

  Example 2 (Emerging/ Regional):

‘Fire & Ice’ is a thrilling techno tune featuring a dark, hypnotic melody and a massive drop, perfect for peak-time sets in an underground club or a late-night drive. Named “one of the most interesting acts in Madrid's techno scene” by Vicious Magazine, Outtribe are gaining national attention following their recent performances across Spain."

  • Be concise: Editorial teams handle massive content volumes daily and appreciate short, clear pitches. Highlight your release's main hook in clear, direct language.
  • Be creative: Share what makes your artist or song unique. Editors often seek fresh, compelling stories or voices. If you lack metrics, provide memorable quotes from fans or insights into the artist’s activity within their genre or territory.
  • Be prepared: Ensure you have a complete marketing plan, high-quality images, and working links ready. Submit at least 4 weeks before the release date to align with DSP schedules.

CONSOLIDATED MARKETING PLAN: WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Distributor marketing works best as part of a cohesive team strategy. Revelator’s submission process can unlock valuable DSP opportunities, but active cross-channel promotional efforts from the artist and their team are essential. Without such efforts, we may prioritize other releases with stronger promotion plan. Collaboration is key to creating the momentum needed to attract DSP attention.

SHOULD I STILL PITCH MY SONG TO SPOTIFY FOR ARTISTS AND OTHER DSP TOOLS?

Absolutely. Pitching options like Spotify for Artists, Amazon Music for Artists, and similar opportunities are managed independently by the artist or their teams, and should be included in your marketing plan. The Revelator form provides additional opportunities at the distributor level, complementing these efforts.

IS THIS FORM EXCLUSIVELY FOR UPCOMING RELEASES?

Not exclusively. While most DSP opportunities focus on upcoming releases, catalog releases can also be submitted if you specify the desired promotion date, and select the appropriate reason in the form (e.g., reissues, physical releases, tours, or trending moments). For example, platforms like Meta often focus on released tracks that are trending in their Instagram audio library, regardless of the original release date. Release stages include:

  • Upcoming: Not yet released.
  • Newly Released: Already released, within the past 12 weeks.
  • Catalog: Any other release from your catalog.

We recommend submitting your pitch at least 4 weeks before the release or desired promotion date, regardless of the release stage.

COORDINATING A MAJOR-LEVEL ARTIST RELEASE

If you’re planning a release for a major, billboard-level, or global superstar artist, it’s crucial to notify us as early as possible through your Revelator contact or support, ideally 3–6 months in advance of the release date. DSPs require significant lead time to prepare for high-profile campaigns and secure premium global promotional placements. Early notice allows us to effectively advocate for your release and ensure it receives maximum exposure across all platforms.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SUBMIT RELEASES IN BULK?

No, bulk submissions are not possible. As outlined in this article, prioritization is essential to address the industry’s content overload and meet editorial teams' capacity limits. Carefully curating your releases improves the chances of being noticed, as bulk submissions are less effective.

WHAT FEEDBACK WILL I RECEIVE ON MY SUBMISSION?

  • We appreciate your understanding that while we will do our best to pitch to various DSPs, we cannot guarantee their support or engagement. Additionally, we cannot guarantee feedback at this time.
  • DSP Inclusion Notifications: Some DSPs, like Deezer and Spotify, offer inclusion notifications through their artist portals. While we’ll notify you of any inclusions we identify, we cannot guarantee capturing all of them.

SETTING EXPECTATIONS FOR SUBMISSION OUTCOMES

While we make our best effort to promote your content, we retain full discretion to curate and prioritize submissions based on the criteria outlined in this article. Please note that we cannot guarantee pitches to any DSP or ensure that DSPs will provide support, even if pitched.
