Link your YouTube channels to Revelator's YouTube MCN
Benefits of linking your YouTube channel with Revelator's MCN
- Benefit from Revelator’s work that results in generating more revenue from YouTube.
- All videos uploaded to the channel will benefit from Content ID: the ability to claim videos on other channels which use any audio/video portion of the channel video even if the audio track or video was not distributed to Content ID through your Revelator dashboard. For example: if your linked channel uploads a video of an acoustic version of a song which you have not distributed to Content ID (through the normal distribution process), the channel video will be able to claim videos on other channels if they repost your video or include the acoustic version of your song in their video.
- There are no other benefits aside from these.
Conditions for linking your YouTube channel
- 100% of the content must be music related.
- 95% of the content must be original and fully owned by you: you cannot simply reupload content that already exists on YouTube (unless you fully own this content).
- You must meet YouTube's acceptance criteria.
- You must abide by YouTube's monetization guidelines (please read the full section "What we check when we review your channel").
- You must fully understand and accept all of the Conditions indicated below, and especially the Copyright Strike Policy.
- You should only request to link a channel if you have full confidence that your channel owners/managers are trustworthy enough not to violate YouTube's Terms of Use and receive copyright strikes.
Conditions for maintaining your YouTube channel in Revelator's MCN
- COPYRIGHT STRIKE POLICY: Revelator has a very strict policy around copyright strikes, so please make sure to read the following in order to avoid having your channel(s) unlinked.
- Do your utmost to avoid all strikes. Read our article on how to avoid YouTube copyright strikes. As a channel manager it is your responsibility to ensure that any rights dispute does not result in a strike. If someone is claiming one of your videos, you must do either of the following:
- If you own the full rights to the recording: then please issue a DMCA notice against the claiming asset on YouTube's DMCA page.
- If you do not own the full rights to the recording: then you must accept the 3rd party's claim or take down your video so that no strike is applied.
- If the issue is more complex, then it is your responsibility to reach out to our support to consult us on addressing the issue in order to avoid a strike. Note that this must be done ASAP as YouTube only gives you 7 days after your claims appeal is rejected by the 3rd party to take down the video; thereafter a strike is applied.
- If you receive 1 strike (and you are unable to have this strike removed):
- Your channel will be unlinked from Revelator's MCN
- You will be blocked from linking any new channels for 60 days
- If you receive more than 1 strike in any 90-day period on 1 channel or across all your channels (and you are unable to get the strikes removed):
- All your channels will be unlinked from Revelator's MCN
- You will be blocked from linking any new channels for 90 days OR forever blocked from linking any YouTube channels, depending on the circumstances
- Do your utmost to avoid all strikes. Read our article on how to avoid YouTube copyright strikes. As a channel manager it is your responsibility to ensure that any rights dispute does not result in a strike. If someone is claiming one of your videos, you must do either of the following:
- Unless you have been cleared by Revelator to create a channel with no intention of applying to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) to monetize your channel:
- You must apply for YPP within 3 months of your channel being linked/created.
- Your YPP application must be successful on the first attempt. The reason for this is to ensure that you are developing the type of channel which YouTube values.
- If you are creating multiple channels, you will need to have at least 75% YPP before Revelator will create additional channels for you. In other words, if you have 10 channels and only 6 of them are currently YPP, you will need to wait until 8 of them are YPP before Revelator will create additional channels for you.
- You must strictly follow all YouTube monetization and community guidelines:
- You cannot add your track as an intro/outro to a music compilation video in order to claim that video — your track must be part of the compilation
- You cannot purchase placement of your music in popular 3rd party content (such as popular TV series, news or sports broadcasts, animes and cartoons, etc.). Note that violating this YouTube policy will cause your infringing asset to be permanently removed from CID and all your YouTube CID royalties to be withheld.
- You must perform at least 2 of the following actions per month:
- Upload a provider video and make it public;
- Perform a live stream;
- Post a reel;
- Create a playlist;
- Comment on your own channel (as your Channel);
- Comment on another channel (as your Channel);
- Create a community post
Procedure to link your channel
- Ensure that you have read all of the above and that you are ready to take on the responsibility of ensuring that your channel managers will follow all requirements so that you do not risk having all your channels unlinked. We urge you to fully take into consideration that as we indicate above in points 1.1 to 1.3: problems with only 1 bad channel can put all of your channels at risk. So please ensure
- You can submit your request to link your channel(s) directly from your dashboard: Catalog > UGC Platforms > YouTube.
- Once you submit your request, please note that it can take a few days before the invitation is sent to your channel. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
- Once your channel is linked, please make sure to assign it to an owner child account and add the appropriate contract for it. Both of these procedures are detailed in this document.
